burchellRev. Dr. Burchell Taylor is Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Half Way Tree, Kingston, Jamaica. He is involved in leading seminars, addressing conferences, presenting papers and leading Studies in Bible and related subjects, both locally and internationally.

He has served as Baptist chaplain to the University of the West Indies, Member of the Baptist World Alliance Commission on Ethics and Communication and member of the Jamaica Council of Churches executive.

A part time lecturer at the United Theological College of the West Indies and St. Michael’s Seminary (Roman Catholic), he holds a Bachelor of Divinity from London University, Master of Arts (Theology) from Oxford University and a Ph D – Theology from the University of Leeds.

In October 2000, he was awarded the Order of Jamaica – Commander of Distinction for Eminence in the field of Theology. He is in great demand as a speaker for conferences and seminars. Pastor Taylor has served as Pastor since 1970. His wife Ann has served as Sunday School Superintendent and currently is the Librarian. They have three sons and five grandchildren.

Chair, Christian Education Department, Jamaica Baptist Union, 1995 – 1997; General Secretary, Jamaica Council of Churches, 1997 – 2000.Admitted to the legal profession October, 2005.

Married to Ms Gloria Brown, an active member and leader of the Sligoville Circuit of Baptist Churches; and father of two young adult daughters and a minor son.Currently enrolled in post graduate research focusing on the subject of liturgy.
